Question by wheredagolddat87: Rocky Horror Picture Show Maternity Costume Ideas?
I’m aware it’s early. But I need to start planning in case I need to sew the whole thing. I’ll be about 6 months pregnant when the show comes around in October. I started out small (105 pounds) so I assume I’ll be large enough to not properly fit into costumes I can buy at the halloween shop. What are some good ideas for a costume? I don’t want to go as Magenta, I’m avoiding her at all costs. Her costume is horrible, and I hated the character.

I’ll suggest Janet in the rain scene when they first enter the castle. She’s wearing white low healed shoes (comfortable and safe for your pregnancy), a simple pink dress (you can wear a maternity a-line with a high waist…one that is under the bust…with a bow or collar, perhaps), a simple white cardigan, and white purse. Put some gel in your hair to give it that wet look (curl it if it isn’t already), and don’t forget the barrette and the newspaper.

Or you can still be Janet but in the lab scene instead of the earlier one. She’s still wearing the low-heeled shoes but in a lab coat. If you’ll remember, the sleeves are, of course, slightly too long. This should also be comfortable for you at that time in your pregnancy. I’m afraid I wasn’t able to find one of this lab scene where Rocky is “born” and introduced to the world.

Considering the costumes and your pregnancy, I think Janet will work best for you. Have a blast, I love that show, and congratulations on your pregnancy.
